I have met so many business leaders that were "looking into innovation" as the main thrust of their business while they should be "doing their homework". These questions are not threatening, straightforward, and relatively easy /unambiguous to answer, in other words: perfect as the kind of starter that weeds out companies that cannot afford or are not positioned to make innovation a worthwhile activity.

2. Are your revenues and profits growing above the average for the categories in which you compete?

3. Do you frequently lead the industry in the introduction of new products or service offerings, as opposed to always having to play catch-up?
