Thoughts -
on Execution

My last post on juergenheuer.com has gotten me going on the value of repetition... isn't a businesses value tied strongly to its ability to repeat? How would you sell the one-hit wonder? You don't, it is inherently worthless (apart from the cash flow it was able to generate).
So, what kind of repetition are we talking? I have customers that live off project development, seemingly one-off. They do have repetition, though, just of a different kind. So it is worthwhile to put together a little matrix: | Focus is on... | Product | | One-Off | Repeat | C u s t o m e r | One-Off | "Customer buys a unique product once and does not return": Project Business - Project Assessment Process
- Customer Acquisition
- Quality Management
Critical Resource: Product Engineer | "Customer buys a off-the-shelf product and does not return": Anonymous Mass Product - Market Research
- JIT Manufacturing
Critical Resource: Product Developer | | Repeat | "Customer buys unique products repeatedly": Product Pipeline Business - Project Process
- CRM
- Technology Research
Critical Resource: Project Manager | "Customer buys the same product over and over again": Hardcore Commodity Business - Manufacturing Efficiencies
- Formal Innovation Management
Critical Resource: Process Quality Engineer | This starts to look like a rather interesting article... |
