With Jeff Fettig's appointment as CEO, Whirlpool undertook a rather remarkable project: to give every executive in the company formal training on people leadership and development. I participated in this week-long course in 2005.

During the course, which had roughly 70 participants, a few outstanding contributors were selected by the participants. I was awarded the "Einstein Award" to the smartes person in the room.
