Reserve Officer German Infantery PDF Print E-mail

When I was taking my turn of defending the country in 1985, the German state was eager to sign recruits for the reserve officer career within the infantry. I was awared the officer's patent a few years later.

I found the training I received over the course of 5 years very helpful. It made me realize fundamental truths about myself, others and projects in general. There is nothing like being cold, tired, and hungry to test one's limits. I have actually been so exhausted during these training courses that I was not capable of signing my name. There is an ammunition report (which I volunteered to do during the final training for the patent, in Hammelburg) which bears a proud "X" instead of my signature. We were up and about for 60 hours non-stop, and I had simply reached my physical limit.

So did others, and it is a deep experience to try to motivate somebody that is at the verge of collapse. In addition, the experience taught me something about project management, specifically risk management and resource allocation. Enough said.
